The only female hall of the Takoradi Technical University has been renamed Professor Duncan Hall by the Management of the university, with the approval of the Governing Council.
This development came as a result of the adoption and subsequent refurbishment of the hall by the renowned philanthropist, Professor Samuel Ato Duncan who also doubles as the CEO of the COA Research and Manufacturing Company Limited.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony on Saturday, Professor Samuel Ato Duncan expressed his profound gratitude to the Governing Council and the Management of the University for the honor bestowed on him.
He said, although the COA Research and Manufacturing Company is recognized as a successful plant medicine research and manufacturing Company “we see our true success by the measure of our impact in society or the people whose lives we positively touch beyond our commercial interest.”

It would be recalled that the COA-RMCL in April 2023 signed a 5-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Takoradi Technical University to among other things undertake joint research and develop human resources, ultimately helping bridge the Academia-Industry gap.
Professor Duncan noted that his company choose to adopt the hall, which is the only female hostel of the University to refurbish it and make it more hospitable for the ladies.
The refurbishment which covers the reception area, the kitchen, the Junior Common Room, and painting of the entire hall, and the procurement of furniture and a Television set costs a little over GHS 100,000.00.

“The kitchen and the JCR have been replaced with new sparkling colors, giving our ladies a renewed sense of comfort and hygiene. The addition of a new refurbished kitchen added a new level of functionality and sustainability to the hostel. The refurbishment did not only entail new amenities and fittings but we also ensured that access to the hall is not a difficulty with the erected signpost,” he said.
He applauded the Vice-Chancellor and his team for their dedication and commitment toward the realization of the objectives of the MOU.

The Vice Chancellor of TTU Rev. Professor John Frank Eshun, in his remark, noted that the five-year strategic plan of the University espouses establishing strong partnerships with Industry to promote research in areas of mutual benefit.

The Vice-Chancellor commended Professor Duncan for his commitment and dedication to the development of humanity which according to him is evidenced in his pursuit of excellence, knowledge and inspiration.
“Your unwavering support and belief in our vision have been instrumental in making this moment a reality. We pay tribute to an exceptional individual whose contribution to our institution has been extraordinary. Professor Duncan is a man who resonates with excellence, Knowledge, and inspiration. Throughout his career he has epitomized the spirit of fostering innovation and shaping the lives of individuals who have had the privilege to learn from him,” he observed.
This, according to the Vice-Chancellor, is what has resulted in the adoption of the hall, expressly manifesting his commitment to education and the impact he has made in the development of the only female hall in the University.

He therefore appealed to the University community to patronize COA Mixture as it not only offers them useful health benefits but also serves as a transformative agent of development.
On her part, the Warden of the Hall, Professor Abigail Padi expressed gratitude to Professor Duncan and the COA Research and Manufacturing Company while assuring them that the management of the Duncan Hall will ensure that proper attention is given to routine cleaning and maintenance.
The VC, assisted by Professor Duncan and other management staff of both institutions then hoisted the flag and cut the tape to officially inaugurate and unveil the name of the hall.
