The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has stressed the need for COA Research and Manufacturing Limited Company to consider investing heavily in the cultivation of medicinal plants in order to sustain its operations.
The Asantehene made the call on Sunday when he visited the COA-RMLC premises to acquaint himself with the operations of the company.
In a welcome statement, the Chief Executive Officer of COA-RMLC, Professor Samuel Ato Duncan recounted the achievements of the company since its inception. He said, the vision started with the establishment of the Center of Awareness Global Peace Mission, an NGO, with the aim of adopting human-centered strategies to promote peace globally. He observed that with time, he came to the understanding that diseases that have no known cure pose a serious threat to peace.
Though not a traditional medicine practitioner, he delved into independent research into natural plants to find medications that can manage the various chronic conditions. This, he said resulted in the discovery and subsequent production of COA Fs which later became COA Mixture after rigorous tests in Ghana and South Africa.
He noted that the company went ahead to introduce two additional products, COA Plus Mixture and COA MT Mixture which are indicated for immune system support and treatment of malaria respectively. These products have received approval from the FDA and has since been doing well with countless reviews from users.
Professor Duncan announced that the company has recently received FDA approval for a new product know as COA CAPSULES. According to him, the introduction of COA Capsules was in response to the public complaints regarding persons who are unable to take the liquid and also those who find it difficult travelling with COA Mixture in liquid form, adding, COA Capsules is the same as COA Mixture.
He said, the company will soon commence commercial production of COA Capsule, and customers will be able to buy from the various pharmacies.
Professor Duncan informed the Otumfuo about a recent award of Scientist of the Year 2022, conferred on him by the International Research Achievement Center, Canada after a competitive bid.
“Nana, all these achievements were made possible largely due to your immense support to myself and the company. For this, Nana my team and I are eternally grateful to you for your continuous support. Indeed, the history of COA success will be incomplete without you. Once again, thank you,” he said.
Professor Duncan also informed the Asantehene about a new product, COA 72, which he said could fetch the country billions of dollars. He said this novel product is targeting viral conditions and comes in the form of an injectable. However, he stressed the COA 72 is still at the research stage and has not yet been submitted to the Regulator for approval.
Professor Duncan then conducted Otumfuo around the manufacturing units and explained the rigorous processes through which the products are produced.
The visit climaxed Otumfuo Osei Tutu’s three days visit to the Cape Coast where he was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Cape Coast and the also participated in this years’ Oguaa Fetu Afahye Celebrations as the royal guest.
